Verruca can be an annoying, persistent and sometimes painful condition.
Verrucae are basically warts that occur on the soles of the feet and
with the weight of the body get ‘pushed in’ to the skin. If the same
were to happen on a non weight-bearing part, the affect would be more
like that of an ordinary wart. Some Verruca disappear on their own,
however many do not and remain with their host for literally years until
treated. The can be stubborn to remove often taking weeks or even months
to treat successfully and then with only steadfast and unrelenting
effort.
Many are called but few are chosen down the road of self help treatments
using a variety of topical preparations found at their local chemist.
Although these can and do work sometimes, there will always be a number
of people who simply can’t get rid of their verruca by such methods.
This is where cryosurgery comes into it’s own. Sometimes used by Doctors
and available at some NHS hospitals, the freezing agent is often liquid
nitrogen. Combined with less than precise application methods and an
exceptionally low freezing level, this method can be quite painful and
has certainly put many a child off chiropodists for life!
My cryosurgery technique uses a kinder (but no less efficient) Nitrous
Oxide gas that is applied under extreme pressure to freeze at -90
degrees. This is targeted precisely to the verruca via a Swedish
applicator ‘gun’ with a solid gold tip for ultimate conduction. The
freezing action will usually kill a verruca after several applications
as the cells within cannot survive such low temperatures.
As with all treatments
cryosurgery may not be suitable for people with certain medical
conditions and if this is the case I will find an alternative method for
you. I am fully trained and insured to use this treatment regime and
have been awarded a diploma in cryosurgery.
