I have for a number of years provided chiropody services to the people of Lincolnshire and have augmented those basic skills with additional treatments such as cryosurgery for the treatment of Verruca and the prescribing of Orthotics to correct mechanical problems caused by the feet.
My basic interest in Chiropody began as a young student psychiatric nurse, escorting patients to the chiropodist. I thought that looks a good job and you get to sit down!
The term Chiropodist is now being replaced by ‘Podiatrist’, which was originally used in the USA to eliminate confusion with ‘Chiropractor’. I use both titles but essentially they mean the same. Only HPC (Health Professions Council) registered practitioners can legally call themselves a Chiropodist or Podiatrist.
I am in private practice and therefore not subsidised by the National Health Service, and solely dependent on the satisfaction of my patients. I have a vested interest in their welfare which I hope shows in a high level of service and care.
